“My Alma Mater was books, a good library… I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity” – Malcolm X (activist)
In IMPROV, a great improviser takes in the world, digesting its many details. Details are essential to great scene work. Great improvisers travel, read, watch films and television, enjoy music, and are informed about world events. Great improvisers live life!
IMPROV CHALLENGE: Try one of the following: Watch a television show you wouldn’t normally watch. Go into a store that sells something that would normally be of no interest to you and observe. Read a book, magazine, comic book, or news article. Look up a random subject on the internet. Observe nature, people watch, try a new food. Learn one new thing every day! All of it is useful to your IMPROV narrative!
